Teams/places we would like to see Bama play

(by Erik Stone)

Erik's list of opponents for Alabama to play in non-conference action...

USC (a reprisal of the great games between the two teams in the early 70's)

Nebraska (another 70's re-match but with Saban and Pellini building the programs up again it would be a great matchup)

Michigan (with the Big House over 100,000 and Bryant-Denny on its way to that number it would be fun to see how many visiting fans can get into each stadium)

Michigan State (not a must-see matchup but it would be fun to see Saban go up against the team he led for five years) Alabama is slated to play home and home with Michigan State in a few years.

Texas (a battle of two mega-programs both with huge stadiums and fan followings)

Ohio State (Alabama has played Ohio State in the past in the Citrus Bowl(1994 season) and Sugar Bowl (1977 season) but to see these two hash it out on campus would be worth the price of admission)

Miami (Fla.) (The Hurricanes are trying to re-emerge and the Tide is already back on the map....each won a National title against the other in a four-year period at the Sugar Bowl....a game like this would help Alabama's recruiting in talent-rich South Florida)Though I've stated my preference for home and home on-campus games.... Alabama and Miami used to play often in the 70s but that was before Miami's national title runs in the 80s.

a game against Texas would fit well in the new Cowboys Stadium in the Dallas area and that actually is a possiblity with Texas wanting to play an SEC team there in the next few years....

Alabama-Michigan at Ford Field in Detroit and at the Georgia Dome would be a good series if the two can't agree on the home sites. USC would have to be home and home and each school has the stadium to fit it....

on USC's side, the Rose Bowl is not an option since arch-rival UCLA plays its home games there. The Nebraska neutral site series could be Kansas City's Arrowhead Stadium and the Georgia Dome.

Doug: I would add Notre Dame to the list. Whether Alabama plays ND in a neutral site or home and home, this should be a game played often.
